Heavy-Duty Remote Starter Switch allows one person to start and crank engine while under the hood or from either side of the vehicle. It features a convenient hot circuit indicator, red ready light glows when starter switch is connected to a hot circuit. The light goes off when switch is depressed. The high current, heavy-duty push button switch ensures reliable operation and long service life, 5 feet leads made from heavy-duty oil and grease resistant 12-gauge wire, high current clips with protective boots open to an extra wide 5/8 inch for ease of hook-up and soft non-slip rubber grip.
Caution!
Exercise care when making this connection because battery voltage is always present at the solenoid or starter relay. Personal injury may be caused if leads are shorted to a ground through tools, wires or wristwatch.
Turn the ignition switch to the On position before using the Remote Starter Switch if you wish to start the engine.
If the vehicle is equipped with an engine Hot indicator, the lamp test circuit which is in the ignition system could be damaged if the remote starter switch is energized with the ignition switch in the Off position.
Key in the off position would be used if you’re just cranking the engine over for special jobs like setting valves, or testing compression.
Typical Connection to Fender Mounted Solenoid (Ford)
This relay may have three or four terminals, two large ones and one or two small ones.
1. Remove the wires connected to the small terminal if only one small terminal is provided. If two small terminals are present, remove the wires from the small terminal marked S.
2. Connect one lead of the Remote Starter Switch to the bare small terminal where the wires were just removed.
3. Connect the other lead of the Remote Starter Switch to the Battery Terminal of the relay.
4. Crank the engine by depressing the Remote Starter Switch.
Typical Connection to Starter Mounted Solenoid (GM)
This relay may have three or four terminals, two large ones and one or two small ones.
1. Connect one lead of the Remote Starter Switch to the small terminal of the solenoid marked S. Be cautious as these connections are exposed and very close together.
2. Connect the other lead of the Remote Starter Switch large battery terminal on the solenoid. This is the heavy cable coming from the battery.
3. Crank the engine by pulling the trigger on the Remote Starter Switch.
